SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A federal appeals court is allowing Planned Parenthood to continue to receive funding in Utah while the court considers Gov. Gary Herbert's decision to end the group's contract with the state for sex education and testing for sexually transmitted diseases. A spokesman for the governor said he was confident the court would eventually rule in his favor.

MANTUA, Utah (AP) — A 23-year-old Utah State University student died after losing control of his vehicle on icy roads in Sardine Canyon near Mantua yesterday, causing a three-vehicle crash. He's identified as Joshua Diamond of West Jordan. Three other people suffered minor injuries.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's birth rate dipped to a historic low in 2014. University of Utah demographer Pam Perlich says people are waiting longer to get married and have kids because a shortage of good-paying jobs deprive them of the economic security they want before starting families.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Karl-Anthony Towns had 25 points and 10 rebounds and the Minnesota Timberwolves outlasted the short-handed Utah Jazz in a 94-80 victory last night. Trey Burke scored all 23 of his points in the second half for Utah. The Jazz were missing Derrick Favors for a third straight game with back spasms.
