(KSL News) The number of children living in poverty in Utah has risen by 20 percent since the year 2000.

A report from the Every Child Matters Education Fund found that 12 percent of children in Utah live below the poverty line. That's below the national average of 18 percent.

Utah is above the national average when it comes to children without health insurance -- 13 percent of children go without coverage compared to 11 percent nationwide.
