SALT LAKE CITY — Today's From Left Field has a focus on hockey, as well as an unfortunate taste for own goals.

Montreal Canadiens goaltender prevents goal with magic, sorcery

The puck in last night's Canadiens vs. Panthers game was well on its way to sliding into the net, already past netminder Ben Scrivens, when it decided to take a turn away.

It honestly looks like the puck was on a string! I know, it probably hit a divot in the ice and changed directions as it was rolling, but it's much more fun if we pretend Scrivens has control of The Force.

Worst own goal ever?

Speaking of hockey, this Polish goalie did not have control of the puck like Scrivens above, handling the puck and then firing it directly into his own net.

Props to this video too, for two things. First, the crazy song that plays during the duration of the video for no reason is glorious. Second, it makes sure to give much attention to the goalie's reaction after making the worst mistake of his career.

Basketball own goals are also impressive

While not as awful of a mistake as the one above, this basketball "own goal" came during a much more important game: No. 1 Michigan State's first loss of the season, to Iowa. It's kind of indicative of how the whole night went for the Spartans.

On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being crazy, this shot is an 11! Watch this shot from the Iowa-Michigan State game! https://t.co/y1yCcgbWsh — Big Ten Network (@BigTenNetwork) December 30, 2015

No word on if Alvin Ellis, the Michigan State player who tipped the ball here, had a conversation with the Polish goalie before or after the game. ![](http://beacon.deseretconnect.com/beacon.gif?cid=352802&pid=4)
