LONDON (AP) — Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says the club will be "busy" during the January transfer window in an effort to bolster a squad bidding for the Premier League title.
Wenger signed only one player before the season — goalkeeper Petr Cech — to leave Arsenal as the only team in the Premier League to not recruit an outfield player.
The French coach will be more active next month, with his injury-hit midfield a department that needs strengthening.
Wenger says "I'm already busy ... we're a bit short to deal with all the competitions we face, especially in midfield."
Asked about signing Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel, Wenger says "we cannot announce anything at the moment about this player because nothing has been concluded."
Arsenal leads the Premier League.
