SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Proponents of a legislative proposal that would allow Utah residents with chronic pain to consume edible marijuana products have found a face for their cause. Enedina Stanger is a Mormon mother who suffers with a rare genetic disorder that causes devastating spasms and common joint dislocations that force her to use a wheelchair. Stanger went public this week to become a voice for others suffering in silence. She was arrested in October for use of marijuana.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Officials say drought has caused water levels in the northern portion of Utah's Great Salt Lake to drop to a historic low for the second year in a row. Utah's Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Geological Survey say the northern arm's water level fell a foot lower than the historic low set last year.
EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (AP) — Police say a Utah man killed himself after a two-hour standoff in a golf club parking lot. Orem Police say officers wanted to question 37-year-old David Driscoll after finding his 27-year-old girlfriend shot to death earlier that day. When officers confronted Driscoll in the Eagle Mountain parking lot, the man barricaded himself inside his car.
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A ground-dwelling bird that has been considered for protection as an endangered species had another good breeding year in the state with more of the birds than any other. Sage grouse are brown, chicken-sized birds that live in the sagebrush. Abundant rain and snow in Wyoming last spring and summer helped to ensure abundant insects for sage grouse chicks to eat.
