POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Ali Faruq-Bey scored a career-high 32 points and Idaho State edged Cal State Northridge 84-79 on Tuesday.
Kendall Smith's layup with 22 seconds remaining drew CSUN to within one at 80-79. Faruq-Bey then made four consecutive free throws for a five-point lead and CSUN missed its last two 3-point attempts.
Faruq-Bey, a junior-college transfer, was 11 of 16 from the floor with four 3-pointers and has finished in double digits in eight of his 12 games. Ethan Telfair finished with 19 points for Idaho State (5-7). Ben Wilson added 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Smith led Cal State Northridge (4-9) with 21 points. Micheal Warren had 18 points, seven boards and six assists while Jerron Wilbut added 15 points.
Idaho State used a 17-5 run early in the second half to go up by 13 midway through the frame, but a nine-point run over 3½ minutes brought CSUN back into it.
