RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Monique Billings scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Kacy Swain added 14 points and a career-high 15 boards to help the short-handed No. 21 UCLA women beat UC Riverside 70-56 Monday night.
Nirra Fields, UCLA's second leading scorer (17.3 points), missed the game for unspecified reasons.
Kari Korver added 11 points and Kennedy Burke scored 10 for the Bruins (8-3).
UCLA, which made just 11 of 35 (31.4 percent) first-half field goals, trailed 28-27 at halftime but outscored the Highlanders 29-14 as Korver hit three 3-pointers and scored all of her points in the third quarter.
Rejane Verin led UC Riverside (6-7) with 24 points.
The Bruins, who came into the game ranked No. 7 nationally in rebounds per game (48.0), outrebounded UC Riverside 55-28, including 23-7 on the offensive glass.
The teams combined to make 5 of 36 from 3-point range.
