ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Gender Agenda gained the lead in the last 50 yards and won the $100,000 Robert J. Frankel Stakes for fillies and mares by a neck Sunday at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Gender Agenda ran 1 1/8 miles on turf in 1:50.29 and paid $23.80, $10.40 and $6.80 at 10-1 odds.
Stormy Lucy returned $5.80 and $4.20 as the 4-1 second choice, while Glory was another nose back in third and paid $3.80 to show.
The victory, worth $60,000, increased Gender Agenda's career earnings to $287,108, with five wins in 18 starts for co-owner Keith Brackpool, chairman of Santa Anita.
The race is named for Frankel, the late Hall of Fame trainer.
