LYON, France (AP) — Lyon has appointed Bruno Genesio as its new coach until the end of the season as a replacement for Hubert Fournier.
Genesio, a former Lyon player, was already deputy coach at the French soccer club.
Following a disappointing first half of the season, marred by a spate of injuries, Lyon sits ninth in the top tier.
The club finished runner-up behind Paris Saint-Germain last season but failed to build on the momentum, exiting the Champions League in the group phase.
Genesio will supervise training from next Monday and be in the dugout on Jan. 3 against Limoges in the French Cup.
