EDGEWOOD, Iowa (AP) — A meat processing plant in northeast Iowa has recalled a beef product due to the possibility of contamination.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship said in a news release Wednesday that Edgewood Locker in Edgewood has recalled more than 200 pounds of beef sticks with cheese. Officials believe the product could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause illness.

The product was packaged on Dec. 15 and would have been purchased at Edgewood Locker or Greenwood Grocery in nearby Farley. It is in packages of 8 ounces or 2 pounds.

Officials for Edgewood Locker say no illnesses or adverse health reactions have been confirmed due to the product's release. They are encouraging consumers to return the product for a refund or to throw it away.
