NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey grand jury has indicted the truck driver who crashed into a limo van carrying Tracy Morgan, killing one man and severely injuring the comedian. The grand jury today charged Kevin Roper with first-degree aggravated manslaughter, second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree aggravated assault. Roper's lawyer has argued that Wal-Mart's settlement of a lawsuit filed by Morgan generated publicity that hurts Roper's chance for a fair trial. Roper was driving a Wal-Mart truck when the crash occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike in 2014.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A lawyer describes Lakeisha Holloway as "distraught" and overwhelmed as she faces charges including murder stemming from Sunday's sidewalk rampage in Las Vegas. She appeared in court today, charged with intentionally plowing a car through crowds of pedestrians on the Las Vegas Strip, with her three-year-old child in the back seat. One person was killed and dozens were hurt. A prosecutor says he believes surveillance video clearly shows that she intended to kill and injure people.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Special staff members have been stationed today at every Mall of America entrance ahead of a protest at the massive mall in suburban Minneapolis. Black Lives Matter organizers say the rally is meant to pressure authorities to release footage of a black man who was shot and killed by Minneapolis police last month. Mall staff members were searching guests' bags at every entrance of the nation's largest mall an hour ahead of the expected protest.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — A Southwest Airlines flight has made what appeared to be a normal landing after circling for several hours over the Oakland, California, airport due to a possible landing gear problem. TV helicopter video showed Southwest flight 2547 landing at Oakland International Airport with a puff of smoke from its tires. A TV station reported that a front tire on the landing gear of the Chicago-bound flight had blown out. There were 139 passengers on the plane. No injuries have been reported onboard.

ATLANTA (AP) — Authorities are worried that Christmas decorations will become dangerous projectiles amid a threat of tornadoes across much of the South. Forecasters say the biggest danger is in a region stretching through Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas, and into parts of Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky. Already today, a tree blew over onto a house in Arkansas, killing an 18-year-old woman and trapping her 1-year-old child inside. The baby was rescued.
