BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline has received a $300,000 grant that will go toward launching the state's first online emotional support program.
KTVB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1YzZ4Oo ) that Director John Reusser says the grant from Boise's J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation is the largest private donation that the hotline has ever received.
Some of the funds will go toward the hotline's online emotional support program, which is expected to start next month.
Reusser says the grant will also fund additional phone lines and staff and help the hotline explore more effective ways to reach individuals who at the highest risk of suicide in the state.
The Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline has fielded nearly 5,000 calls so far this year. About 12 percent of callers were teens.
