SAN ANTONIO (AP) — David Nwaba scored 12 points with six rebounds and five assists to lead Cal Poly's balanced attack and the Mustangs beat Texas-San Antonio 88-73 Tuesday night.
Luke Meikle, Reese Morgan and Josh Martin all scored 12 points for Cal Poly (6-6). Taylor Sutlive and Joel Awich had 11 points apiece and Brian Bennett added 10 points. The Mustangs had 23 assists on 32 field goals and outrebounded the Roadrunners 46-41, despite having no players with more than six.
Texas-San Antonio (2-11) was led by Ryan Bowie with 23 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Christian Wilson had 13 points and Lucas O'Brien added 10.
Cal Poly made a 13-0 run early, and a 10-point spurt later, to run up a 51-26 lead at intermission.
The lead reached 30 on Awich's dunk with just over 13 minutes to go. UTSA closed the game on an 18-9 run.
