GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Caleb White had 21 points and matched a season-high with five assists as East Carolina jumped out early and cruised to a 98-71 victory over South Carolina State on Tuesday night.

White was 7 of 10 from the field with five 3-pointers, and has 1,008 career points. B.J. Tyson scored 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting with four 3-pointers for East Carolina (8-5). Charles Foster chipped in 15 points for the Pirates, who are 7-0 at home and scored their most points since beating Stetson 93-73 on Nov. 27.

Gabe McCray scored 15 points to lead South Carolina State (5-8).

The Pirates' Clarence Williams made a 3 and East Carolina led 21-4 six minutes into the game. White made a free throw for his 1,000th career point, and the Pirates had a 54-32 lead with a minute left before halftime. White scored 13 in the first half.
