LIU Brooklyn holds off Incarnate Word 66-59

NEW YORK (AP) — Martin Hermannsson scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds as LIU Brooklyn held off Incarnate Word's late run for a 66-59 win on Tuesday night.

Jerome Frink added 14 points and had four steals and two blocks for LIU Brooklyn (6-4).

The Blackbirds were up 27-26 at the half and pushed that to 54-43 with 4:37 left in the game. Incarnate Word had a 10-2 run to close to 56-53 with 2:09 remaining. LIU Brooklyn pushed the lead back to 60-53 and then Kyle Hittle, who had 15 points, nailed a 3-pointer to close to 60-56 with 1:20 left.

Four different Blackbird players made five free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Incarnate Word (4-6), which upset St. John's 73-51 at Madison Square Garden on Friday, was led by Derail Green, 16 points, and Shawn Johnson with nine points and 12 rebounds.
