LAS VEGAS (AP) — Michael Bryson tied his career high with 29 points and UC Santa Barbara held off Iona 80-76 on Tuesday in the South Point Classic.

Bryson's basket with 1:46 left gave UCSB a 77-71 lead. Iona's Deyshonee Much made four free throws and Aaron Rountree 1 of 2 to close it to 77-76 with 48 seconds left. Mitch Brewe's tip-in with 21 seconds left boosted UCSB's lead to three and he added a free throw with three seconds remaining.

Bryson was 9 of 17 from the floor and made 10 of 11 free throws for the Gauchos (3-7). Maxwell Kupchak added 10 points.

Iona's Isaiah Williams scored 17 points, though he was only 3 of 12 from the 3-point arc. Much made 4 of 8 3-point tries in scoring 16 points for the Gaels (4-5). Jordan Washington added 12 points, Muhammad Ibn 11 and Jahaad Proctor 10.
