OGDEN — Police are looking for a 58-year-old man they say robbed a Goldenwest Credit Union this weekend — more than decade after he served time in prison for robbing the same branch.
Investigators released Peter Leonard Lyon's name Monday, warning that he should be considered armed and dangerous. He allegedly robbed the Goldenwest branch at 3225 Harrison Blvd. in Ogden at about 9:20 a.m. Saturday. During the robbery, the man displayed what appeared to be a pipe bomb, according to Ogden Police Lt. Will Cragun.
Interestingly, investigators said Lyon robbed the exact same bank back in the early 2000s and served time in federal prison for the crime. Lyon has an extensive history of bank robberies, according to Cragun.
"It's fortunate we were able to identify this guy and we would like to get him apprehended so this doesn't happen anywhere else, before anyone is injured," he said.
Police directed anyone who sees Lyon to call 911. Those with information about the robbery or Lyon can call the Northern Utah Crime Task Force at 385-626-2276.
Lyon may be driving a silver 2008 Toyota Prius, according to the Ogden Police Department. The vehicle possibly has the Utah dealer plate 7288005.
