NEW YORK (AP) — New York City is honoring two slain police officers with a plaque at their Brooklyn precinct. It was dedicated today. Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton led the special ceremony honoring Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos who were ambushed in their cruiser one year ago. Hundreds of uniformed NYPD officers participated in today's remembrance.

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — A 33-year-old snowmobiler from North Dakota is dead after an avalanche in southern Montana buried him and two companions on Saturday. The Park County Sheriff's Office says the other two riders were able to dig themselves out from the slide north of Cooke City on the Montana-Wyoming line. People in the backcountry are being warned about dangerous conditions.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say rescuers have pulled five bodies from the wreckage of a small plane that crashed in central California. The Kern County sheriff's office expects the names of the victims to be released Monday. The plane went down near Bakersfield, California, yesterday. Air traffic controllers had received a mayday and then lost radar contact with the plane.

BEIJING (AP) — At least 91 people are missing in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, a day after a massive landslide buried dozens of buildings in an industrial park. The official Xinhua (shihn-wah) news Agency says the landslide buried 33 buildings in the park on Sunday. It's a manufacturing center in Guangdong province across the border from Hong Kong. No deaths are reported.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration says it's extending Endangered Species Act protections to two breeds of African lions. The listings will be announced Monday. It will include an order that will require a permit to import a sport-hunted lion and deny that permit to anyone convicted of violating federal or state wildlife laws.
