Shaw makes late 3; Coastal Carolina edges Alabama St. 68-65

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Jaylen Shaw made a 3-pointer with four seconds left and Coastal Carolina edged Alabama State 68-65 on Sunday.

Badou Diagne split a pair of free throws to give the Chanticleers a 65-64 lead with 1:23 remaining. Steve Rogers and Bobby Brown both missed 3-point attempts for Alabama State in the final minute. The Hornets' Torloft Thomas made a free throw to tie it at 65-all with 11 seconds to play before Shaw's game-winner.

Shivaughn Wiggins and Elijah Wilson scored 13 points apiece to lead Coastal Carolina (7-5). Shaw had nine points and six assists.

Steve Rogers scored 14 points to lead Alabama State (4-6).

Wiggins converted a 3-point play and Coastal Carolina led 55-47 midway through the second half. The Hornets answered with a 10-2 spurt to take a 58-57 lead with eight minutes to go. Neither team had more than a four-point lead the rest of the way.
