WASHINGTON (AP) — Devin Martin scored a career-high 34 points and Maryland-Eastern Shore defeated American 79-64 on Sunday.

Martin was 14 of 25 from the floor, including four 3-pointers, in becoming the first Hawk to reach 30 points since March 2014. Dominique Elliott added 15 points for the Hawks, who shot 56 percent.

Paris Maragkos scored 16 points for the Eagles, who shot 59.5 percent but committed 21 turnovers.

The victory snapped a six-game losing streak for the Hawks (2-10) while the Eagles (2-8) lost their third straight.

American led 37-33 at halftime but Martin scored the first five points of the second half and had 10 points in the run that gave the Hawks a 47-41 lead. The lead reached 10 before the Eagles cut it to five with 5:17 left. But Elliott started a 12-1 run with a pair of baskets to go ahead 78-62 with a minute to go.
