DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Aaric Armstead sank a 3-pointer in double overtime to put Northern Illinois ahead for good as the Huskies beat Florida International 78-75 on Saturday.

Armstead's 3-pointer gave the Huskies (8-2) a 74-72 lead with 2:06 to play in the second overtime period and Travon Baker and Marin Maric combined for four free throws to keep Northern Illinois on top for the win.

Maric led the Huskies with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Chuks Iroegbu scored 15 points, Armstead had 13 points with nine rebounds and Baker added 12 points.

Baker hit a layup with a second to go in the first OT to tie the game, 67-67, and send it into the second overtime.

The Huskies led 58-55 with 18 seconds left in regulation but FIU's Elmo Stephen sank a 3-pointer with four seconds to go to tie it up.

Donte McGill led the Golden Panthers (4-7) with 23 points.
