BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Braxton Ogbueze scored 25 points with a career-high seven 3-pointers, and Charlotte beat Appalachian State 82-66 on Saturday, handing the Mountaineers their fifth straight loss.
Benas Griciunas and Anthony Vanhook scored 14 points apiece, Ridell Camidge added 10, and Jon Davis had a career-high seven assists for the 49ers (2-8), who shot 11 of 18 (61 percent) from long distance.
Ogbueze scored 20 points in the first half, including 6 of 6 3-pointers, and Charlotte led 40-33 at halftime.
Camidge and Griciunas each hit two 3-pointers and Charlotte led 54-45 early in the second half. Jake Babic's 3 pulled the Mountaineers within 56-50, but Charlotte replied with a 9-0 run for 65-50 lead and continued to pull away.
The 49ers outrebounded the Mountaineers 43-25 and its bench outscored Appalachian State's 39-24.
Frank Eaves scored 24 with four 3-pointers for the Mountaineers (2-8).
