SAN JUAN COUNTY — Two San Juan County residents were arrested on suspicion of manufacturing and selling methamphetamine Thursday.
The arrests are the culmination of an investigation that lasted multiple months, according to the San Juan County Sheriff's Office. Deputies also seized three pounds of meth, plus marijuana and $4,000 worth of cash. The street value of the drugs is estimated to be between $20,000 and $25,000.
"This is a very large drug bust, particularly in rural Utah," Sheriff Rick Eldredge said.
One of the San Juan residents could face federal drug charges, according to the sheriff's office. They were reportedly bringing the drugs to the northern part of San Juan County to deal, in addition to distributing meth outside of the state of Utah.
"We feel that this individual was moving a lot of meth and it wasn't just in San Juan County," Eldredge said.
The names of the two people were not released pending formal charges.
