DENTON, Texas (AP) — New North Texas coach Seth Littrell hired his first two assistants Friday, including Graham Harrell as offensive coordinator.

Harrell and receivers coach Joel Filani both come from Washington State, where they worked for Mike Leach. Littrell was on staff with Leach at Texas Tech from 2005-08, when Harrell was the starting quarterback and Filani a receiver.

Harrell was outside receivers coach at Washington State, the national leader with 397 yards passing per game. Harrell finished his career at Tech averaging 351 yards per game with 134 touchdown passes, then an NCAA record.

Filani was offensive quality control coach at Washington State. He had 156 catches for 2,307 yards and 21 TDs in 2005-06 for the Red Raiders.

Littrell wants an up-tempo offense that scores a lot of points.
