VAL GARDENA, Italy (AP) — Aksel Lund Svindal led the way again as Norway and the United States claimed the top four spots in the final training session on Thursday for the classic World Cup downhill on the Saslong course.

Svindal enjoyed a 0.24 seconds advantage over Norwegian teammate Kjetil Jansrud.

Aiming to tie the record with his fourth win in this race, Steven Nyman stood third, with fellow American Travis Ganong fourth.

Wiley Maple, another American, clocked the fifth fastest time but he missed a gate.

Svindal, the two-time overall World Cup champion, has won three super-Gs on the Saslong but never the downhill. He also led the opening training session on Wednesday.

A super-G is scheduled for Friday followed by the downhill on Saturday.
