PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) — Ethan Montalvo scored 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting to lead Texas State to a 62-44 victory over Prairie View A&M on Wednesday night.

Emani Gant added 15 points and 11 rebounds for Texas State (5-2), which has won four of their last five by an average of 13.25 points per game.

Defensively, the Bobcats held Panthers (0-10) to 27.1 percent shooting from the field and just 1 of 13 from 3-point range.

Texas State opened the second half on a 14-6 stretch, capped by a Maljhum McCrea jumper to take a 44-28 lead. Prairie View A&M never trimmed the lead below double digits the rest of the game, as they managed to cut the lead to 11 (48-37) once after two Admassu Williams free throws.

Williams and Tevin Bellinger each scored 15 points to lead the Panthers. Williams added eight rebounds.
