BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Keith Hornsby scored 14 points as LSU defeated Gardner-Webb 78-57 in a non-conference game Wednesday night.

Hornsby was one of five Tigers players to score in double figures. Freshmen Ben Simmons and Antonio Blakeney each had 11 points, while both Aaron Epps and Craig Victor came off the bench to score ten points.

The 57 points allowed by LSU (5-4) were its fewest of the season. Harold McBride was the lone double-figure scorer for Gardner-Webb (4-7) with 19 points. The Bulldogs shot just 33 percent from the field (19-of-57) while scoring their fewest points of the season.

LSU guarded and rebounded with a sense of urgency from the beginning of the game. Gardner-Webb, which shot 24 percent from the field in the first half (7-of-29), had four field goals in the first 17 minutes.

The Tigers outrebounded the Bulldogs 31-16 in the opening 20 minutes.
