LJUBLJANA, Slovenia (AP) — A court in Slovenia has acquitted an Italian citizen of terrorism charges of the sending of an envelope containing poison to the Czech finance minister last year.

The court in the coastal town of Koper on Wednesday did convict 25-year-old Ivan Cernic of drug trafficking and counterfeiting and sentenced him to 15 months in prison. It said there wasn't enough evidence to prove the charge relating to the letter.

The prosecution announced it would appeal.

The Czech Republic's finance and interior ministers last year both received envelopes containing a toxin, but they were intercepted before anyone could be exposed. The letter was mailed from Slovenia and Cernic was arrested there.
