STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Forward De'Janae Boykin has decided to transfer from No. 1 UConn after just one semester with the top-ranked Huskies.
Coach Geno Auriemma announced the move Tuesday, saying the freshman Boykin expressed a desire to be closer to her home in Springdale, Maryland.
The 6-foot-2 high school All-American had been sidelined with an Achilles injury suffered in the offseason and had not appeared in a game for UConn (8-0). She also missed most of her senior season in high school with a wrist injury.
Boykin will complete her finals this week prior to finalizing her transfer. Auriemma did not say where Boykin plans to enroll.
