CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Canyon Barry made five 3-pointers for 26 points — 22 in the second half — and the College of Charleston beat Division II North Greenville 89-52 on Sunday for their fifth straight win and best start since 2011-12.
Marquise Pointer scored a career-high 16 points, Evan Bailey a career-high 14, Jarrell Brantley had 13, and Cameron Johnson 10. The Cougars (7-2) made 12 of 24 3-pointers and outscored the Crusaders 26-14 in the paint.
Leading 41-24 at halftime, Barry hit back-to-back 3s and the Cougars opened the second half with an 11-2 run for a 26-point lead. Bailey's jumper with 12:12 left put Charleston up 61-33 and the Cougars cruised, outshooting the Crusaders 55 percent to 39 percent.
Korval McElroy scored 14, Justin Dotson added 12, and Troy Blyden had 10 for North Greenville (3-4), whose 21 turnovers led to 35 Charleston points.
