HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — James Kelly scored a career-high 27 points, Austin Loop made a career-best eight 3-pointers in scoring 26 points and Marshall beat Eastern Kentucky 96-72 on Saturday night.

Kelly, who was 11 of 14, also had nine rebounds with Ryan Taylor adding 10 boards and 13 points for his second double-double this season. C.J. Burks scored 14 points.

Loop made 8 of 10 3-pointers including six in the first half when Marshall (2-6) took a 48-38 lead.

Nick Mayo and Jarelle Reischel each scored 20 points for the Colonels (7-4). Reischel collected 10 rebounds for his third double-double this season.

The Thundering Herd took off on a 17-7 run to open the second half and lead 65-45.

It was first meeting between Marshall and Eastern Kentucky since 1995. Saturday's game was 40th meeting with EKU leading the series 22-17.
