CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Kealen Ives nailed a 3-pointer with 1:14 left and Rider made seven free throws down the stretch as the Broncs held on to beat Charleston Southern 82-72 on Saturday night.
Jimmie Taylor, who finished with 19 points, made four of those late free throws. Teddy Okereafor added 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Rider (2-8) won for the first time since beating Houston Baptist 67-56 on Nov. 25. Ives finished with 15 points.
Rider was up 21-7 at the midway point in the first half and held a 42-34 halftime advantage. That was Rider's most productive half this year.
Rider made 27 of 52 (51.9 from the floor while limiting the Buccaneers to 25-of-64 shooting.
The Buccaneers had closed to 72-68 with 2:34 left. Ives answered with his trey and Rider rode to the win.
Raemond Robinson scored all 14 of his points in the second half for the Buccaneers (3-6).
