BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Virginia Tech has barred a fraternity following a complaint about hazing.
The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/1Qzc1XO) reports the university pulled Kappa Sigma Nu Prime Colony's university recognition in October following a student conduct investigation.
Frank Shushok, vice president for student affairs, says a hearing officer found the organization responsible for hazing and disorderly conduct. The fraternity will be able to continue operation, but without university affiliation. It will not be eligible to return until May 2018.
Fraternity Executive Director Mitchell Wilson disagreed with the finding, saying there was no evidence that a chapter violation had occurred.
The fraternity had recently been re-established at Virginia Tech after being barred in 2009 for conduct violations related to alcohol, destruction of university property, disorderly conduct and other violations.
