Fischer, Emery lead BYU to 80-68 win over Utah State

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Chase Fischer scored 24 points, including four 3-pointers, and Nick Emery added 17 points to help BYU beat Utah State 80-68 on Wednesday night.

Kyle Davis scored 14 points, Corbin Kaufusi 10 and Kyle Collinsworth finished with eight points, seven rebounds, 11 assists and two blocked shots for BYU (6-2).

Shane Rector's layup with 11:13 left in the first half pulled Utah State (5-2) within two, but BYU outscored the Aggies 21-8 to close the half and took a 39-24 lead into the break.

The Cougars led by double figures throughout the second half and four consecutive points by Fischer made it 80-58 with 3:31 left before Utah State closed the game on a 10-0 run.

Utah State made just 8 of 33 field-goal attempts in the first half.

Jalen Moore led the Aggies with 15 points on 6-of-17 shooting. Shane Rector and Chris Smith scored 12 apiece.
