CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A Chinese-backed electric carmaker plans to build a $1 billion manufacturing plant outside Las Vegas. The Associated Press has obtained a letter to state officials that says the company will build in North Las Vegas. The letter is signed by billionaire Chinese investor Jia Yueting (ZHAW' YOO'-weh-ting), a major financial backer of California-based Faraday Future.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A major union has announced it's endorsing Democratic Nevada state Sen. Ruben Kihuen in the crowded race for Rep. Cresent Hardy's congressional seat. Kihuen's campaign says the SEIU Local 1107 is backing him. The group represents about 17,000 workers.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz will hold a campaign event in Summerlin after participating in the debate in Las Vegas next week. Cruz's campaign says he'll host a town hall with voters the morning of Dec. 17 at Siena, a gated community for seniors.

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. (AP) — Las Vegas police have arrested a person who came to the main gate of Nellis Air Force Base and said there was a bomb in a vehicle. Authorities say there was no threat and no bomb. Police closed roads in the area as they investigated.
