SOUTH OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Police say a Layton man who ran over a toddler in his pickup truck had been denied a driver's license due to medical conditions that affected his eyesight.
The Standard-Examiner reports (http://bit.ly/1NUosP1 ) a probable cause affidavit released Tuesday says 25-year-old Aaron Burlison, who is charged with manslaughter in the child's July death, had his left eye closed due to a failed cornea transplant. Police also say he has glaucoma in both eyes as well as a condition that causes numbness and weakness in his legs.
The report says that Burlison acknowledged in an interview with police that he shouldn't be driving because his license was invalid.
Charging documents say a vehicle struck 18-month-old Lexie Smith in an apartment complex parking lot in South Ogden. The girl died at a hospital.
