SOUTH OGDEN, Utah (AP) — South Ogden police are looking for a man with multiple warrants after he escaped police custody. The Standard-Examiner reports that the suspect was arrested yesterday and placed in the back of a police cruiser. He somehow managed to escape and has been on the lam since. He was last seen at the Newgate Mall.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah lawmakers will have $560 million in extra money to work with as they set next year's budget. Legislators will have $180 million to spend on one-time projects such as new equipment or building construction and repairs and $380 million to spend on ongoing expenses such as paying salaries for government workers.
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — The head of Utah's state police says he plans to assign an investigator to keep an eye on refugees settling in the state. The Department of Public Safety Commissioner says the detective would join the team of state workers who help refugees find housing and work. He says the investigator would both monitor for possible problems with refugees and connect newcomers with police help if they become crime victims.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police documents show that NFL quarterback Jay Cutler's brother-in-law was arrested outside a city hall in Southern California with a loaded shotgun four days before his car was found abandoned in Utah. The documents reveal that Michael Cavallari was arrested on Nov. 23 after a woman called the Orange County Sheriff's department to say he had been outside her apartment with a shotgun.
