The FBI has said it's investigating the shooting at a holiday gathering of Syed Farook's co-workers as an act of terrorism.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration will announce a new terror alert system "in the coming days." That's according to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson. He says the new alert system will better inform the public about threats to the United States, but he did not provide specific details.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Ben Carson's campaign says the Republican presidential candidate will travel to Africa later this month. Carson plans to visit three African nations but his campaign hasn't said which. The Africa trip would be Carson's second foreign venture in recent months. The retired neurosurgeon has tried to answer concerns about his lack of foreign policy experience.
CHICAGO (AP) — The attorney for the family of a black man fatally shot in the back by Chicago police says an investigation into the shooting was a "joke." Attorney Michael Oppenheimer spoke after Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez said her office wouldn't charge the police officer who'd fired at Ronald Johnson.
