Police documents show that NFL quarterback Jay Cutler's brother-in-law was arrested outside a city hall in southern California with a loaded shotgun four days before his car was found abandoned in Utah.

The documents reveal that Michael Cavallari was arrested on Nov. 23 after a woman called the Orange County Sheriff's department to say he had been outside her apartment with a shotgun.

The unnamed woman told deputies the two had argued days earlier and she was afraid because he kept returning to her apartment. Police say Michael Cavallari acknowledged having a loaded shotgun in his trunk, but he denied doing anything to the woman.

He is the brother of reality TV personality Kristin Cavallari.

Utah authorities say the 30-year-old Cavallari hasn't made contact with anyone since his car was found in a desolate stretch of southern Utah on Nov. 27.

Utah authorities say the brother-in-law of NFL quarterback Jay Cutler has been missing for more than a week after his abandoned car was found running on a remote dirt road with the air bag deployed.

Grand County Sheriff Steven White said Monday that a rancher discovered 30-year-old Michael Cavallari's car early on Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving. It was found about 200 miles south of Salt Lake City and 5 miles south of Interstate 70.

Cavallari lives in San Clemente, California. He is the brother of reality TV personality Kristin Cavallari, who's married to Cutler.

White says it appears Michael Cavallari was passing through Utah. There are no signs of foul play.

White says crews have been searching the area near the car on foot and by helicopter.
