(KSL News) -- Volunteers worked to clean some big items out of the Jordan River today.

The cleanup for canoes and shopping carts focused on the section from about 1700 South to about 300 North.

This is one of several cleanups that will take place until October. It took some effort to hoist old canoes out of the river.

There were also some fun events, including a canoe float and parade.
