Team coverageThis afternoon, police released the names of the two women killed in Ogden this weekend.

Rosanna Marie Cruz and Teresa Rene Tingey were shot to death sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Police say the two victims were prostitutes using the street names Rosy and Wyoming.

Their accused killer, 31-year-old Jacob Ethridge, likely met them both shortly before he killed them.

Police say after a fight with his girlfriend Saturday night, Ethridge came to the Ogden neighborhood on Adams Avenue looking for a prostitute.

He shot the first victim in the head with a handgun in a third-story apartment at 2579 Adams Avenue. He then walked up the street, met the second victim, and shot her at 2641 Adams Avenue.

Lt. Tony Fox, with the Ogden Police Department, said, "It's just something I've never seen, where you deliberately go out and choose victims, shoot one, walk down the street and shoot another, and immediately turn around and come into the station and confess to what you've done."

Police say Ethridge does not have much of a criminal history. A few years ago he was arrested after a domestic violence dispute where he pulled out a gun. Police say he also threatened suicide at the time.

Ethridge was recently divorced and has several children. He told police he was an employee with the IRS.

Meanwhile, friends of the victims say both women were going through tough times, but they were special people who didn't deserve to die.

One woman we spoke to said 25-year-old Cruz just found out she had cancer of the mouth, and 43-year-old Tingey had struggled with addiction.

Saundra Click, a friend of the women, said, "If you ever stopped to get to know Wyoming (Tingey), you'd know she wrote beautiful poetry, and little Rosy (Cruz) could sing her little heart out. She had a voice none could compare to. [It] scares me more than anything. It could have been any one of us girls, any one of the girls out here."

There will be a candlelight vigil for the two women tonight at 7:00 on Adams Avenue between 24th and 25th streets.
