(KSL News) A helicopter medic who served in the first Iraq war was laid to rest today after he died following a helicopter collision in Arizona.
It was a funeral fit for a man known as a proud patriot. Military officers carried James Taylor's casket down a flag-lined path in front of tearful mourners.
Taylor, who served as a physical therapist in Operation Desert Storm, was known as a devoted father and proud patriot. He died on the Fourth of July, the perfect day, according to his family.
Diane McAllister, Taylor's mother, said, "To die on the Fourth of July when you're a patriot, what else could there be. It was, it was glorious. When I stepped outside and saw the guards and the flags, I was overwhelmed."
Taylor is survived by his wife and three young children.
