WEST VALLEY CITY — Three men were identified and arrested in connection with robbing four U.S. Banks across West Valley City and one in Salt Lake City over a several-week period, police said.

The first robbery occurred Friday, Oct. 23 at the U.S. Bank inside a Smith's store at 5620 W. 4100 South, according to West Valley City police. That same bank was robbed again two weeks later on Friday, Nov. 6. Just five days later, the U.S. Bank inside the Smith's store at 4065 S. Redwood Road was also robbed, police said.

Wednesday, the U.S. Bank inside a Wal-Mart store at 3180 S. 5600 West was also robbed and a Salt Lake City bank was robbed shortly after. Police believed the robberies were all connected, and they located a vehicle that matched the description of the car used in connection with both robberies that day.

The driver of the vehicle, Jared Freeland, 25, and the passenger, Moroni Fuli, 23, were both arrested in connection with Wednesday's bank robberies and were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail. The vehicle was impounded.

Investigators from West Valley City police, Salt Lake City police and the FBI continued to investigate the robberies and identified David Matthew Hamson, 36, as a "primary suspect" in the four West Valley City bank robberies, police said. Hamson was a wanted fugitive in connection with a separate robbery.

Thursday, West Valley City police detectives and FBI Violent Crimes Task Force members responded to the In-Town Suites at 48 W. 3300 South, where Hamson was staying. Hamson attempted to flee the scene, police said; however, he was quickly taken into custody.

Hamson was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail in connection with aggravated robbery, three counts of robbery and theft.
