NEW YORK, Jul 21, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Pop starlet Jessica Simpson missed Ashlee's performance in New York after earlier saying how excited she was to see her younger sister perform.
The reason for the older Simpson's absence may have been because ex-husband Nick Lachey's new girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo was planning to swing by the party at Manhattan's Pier 54 for the launching of Victoria Secret's Pink line, TMZ.com reported Friday.
Ashlee gave a hype performance, with Jessica bailing out at the last minute, claiming that she "didn't want to steal Ashlee's spotlight."
Minnillo also decided against going to the show at the last minute, TMZ said.
The two avoided each other earlier this week when Jessica was on TRL, which Minnillo co-hosts, when Minnillo was given the day off.
