ST. GEORGE — A prostitution sting in Southern Utah landed five people in jail.
St. George police said prostitutes were advertising online through various websites. Investigators said that led to the arrest of three women, identified as Amber Carruthers, Canisha Walker and Monique Jackson, all from Las Vegas.
Court documents say the women offered services out of a motel in St. George. Probable cause statements say the women offered undercover detectives full body massages and then sex for money.
Police also arrested two men who police say answered ads for prostitution.
St. George police conduct sting operations several times a year, according to Sgt. Sam Despain.
"That type of behavior is not accepted in this community," Despain said. "We actively enforce it. We do not accept it. We know there are problems associated with this type of behavior."
Court documents say the three women have prior convictions for prostitution in other states. None were licensed to practice massage in Utah.
