STOCKTON, Tooele County — Two men who flew in a helicopter to the peak of Flat Top Mountain on Tuesday morning to repair a radio tower got stuck when the weather took a turn for the worse, police said.

The men were not wearing clothes for the cold weather, Tooele County Sheriff Paul Wimmer said, and were enduring 15 degree weather and strong winds after landing their helicopter. They reportedly remained on the mountain peak late Tuesday night.

Tooele County rescue crews were dispatched to recover the men from the mountain, but still hadn't reached the men as of Tuesday evening. Wimmer said Tuesday night that the weather had cleared again and that another helicopter may be dispatched to take the men from the mountain.

The two men were not able to fly out of the area earlier because of concerns about the strong winds and the possibility of the helicopter's blades icing. For the same reason, an aerial rescue was considered impossible for much of Tuesday, according to Wimmer.
