PARIS (AP) — One official is describing the scene inside a Paris concert hall as "carnage," with at least 100 people killed. Attackers had been holding hostages there. At least two attackers were killed. The hostage-taking was one in a series of at least six attacks across the French capital. Targeted sites include a stadium where there was a soccer match between France and Germany. A restaurant was also attacked and at least 11 people were killed there.

NEW YORK (AP) — Management for the band Eagles of Death Metal say they're trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of band members. The American rock band was supposed to perform at the Bataclan, a theater in eastern Paris that was attacked Friday night. People inside were taken hostage. Security forces launched an assault. A police official says at least 100 people were killed.

PARIS (AP) — France has enacted extraordinary security measures in the wake of Friday night's attacks in Paris. President Francois Hollande dispatched troops, declared a state of emergency and ordered borders closed. Hollande is cancelling his trip to the G-20 meeting in Turkey. He was to have departed on Saturday.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says the attacks in Paris are an "outrageous attempt to terrorize innocent civilians." Speaking from the White House briefing room, Obama vowed to do whatever it takes to help bring the perpetrators to justice. He called the violence an "attack on all of humanity." The attacks come as the president is preparing for two trips abroad. He's slated to leave Saturday for a nine-day trip to Turkey, the Philippines and Malaysia. He's due to travel to Paris for climate change talks at the end of the month.

SINJAR, Iraq (AP) — Kurdish military officials say Iraqi Kurd forces pushed into the strategic town of Sinjar in northern Iraq. Sinjar in on a key highway used by Islamic State extremists to move forces and supplies between Iraq and Syria. Meanwhile, a coalition of Arab, Christian and Kurdish rebel factions recaptured another town from the militants across the border in Syria. The Kurdish offensive on Sinjar was backed by airstrikes by the U.S.-led coalition.
