EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Rex Ryan didn't get many wins in Met Life Stadium last season as coach of the Jets. Last night he got one as coach of the Bills as Buffalo beat the Jets 22-17. The Bills wrapped up the win when they stopped the Jets inside the Bills 10 in the final minutes of the game.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The NBA champion Golden State Warriors have started defense of their title with a string of 10 straight wins. Led by Stephen (STEH'-fehn) Curry, who had 46 points, they beat the Timberwolves in Minneapolis 129-116. Twenty-one of Curry's points came in the final quarter.
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Rangers are on a roll. They own a seven-game winning streak after beating the Blues last night 6-3. New York has the NHL's second-best record at 12-2-2, two points behind Montreal.
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — The men's Top-25 basketball schedule gets going tonight. Among the many schools in action is No. 1 North Carolina. The Tar Heels take on Temple on the campus of the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
UNDATED (AP) — Officials from the governing body of track and field are meeting today to determine the future of track and field in Russia. The meeting is taking place in the wake of a report from the World Anti-Doping Agency that said the country was involved in a drug scandal. The Russian track and field team could face suspension for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
