SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A man who police say was pointing a rifle at a San Francisco hospital from atop an adjacent construction site is dead after being shot by officers. Police Greg Suhr says the man opened fire on officers responding to reports of an active shooter near California Pacific Medical Center's St. Luke's campus. Suhr says they do not yet have a motive.
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — A white college student suspected of posting online threats to shoot black students and faculty at the University of Missouri is charged with making a terrorist threat. The arrest of 19-year-old Hunter Park has added to racial tensions at the university system's flagship campus in Columbia. Park is enrolled at another campus about 75 miles to the northwest of Columbia.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Department of Agriculture says it saw "completely unacceptable" actions depicted on an animal welfare group's undercover video from a Minnesota slaughterhouse that supplies Hormel Foods. Compassion Over Killing says the video was shot last month at a Quality Pork Processors plant in Austin. The USDA says it'll investigate if the video proves authentic.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say an Arkansas mother has been charged with child endangerment after giving her 10-month-old son bourbon in a bottle. KATV-TV reports that the 28-year-old woman told police she was trying to relieve her teething infant's pain. The boy and his two siblings were later put into the custody of the Department of Human Services.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A man separated from his identical twin six months after birth in 1933 and reunited with his brother more than two decades later has died. Jack Yufe who outlived his brother Oskar Stohr by 18 years, died Monday at a San Diego hospital at age 82. Yufe had been raised as a Jew in Trinidad while his brother grew up in Nazi Germany. Despite their divergent upbringings, experts were astounded by their similarities.
