LAYTON — Two parking stalls near the Layton Police Department are now reserved for as a "safe exchange zone" for residents to use, the agency said Wednesday.

The city designed the stalls as a safe meeting place for anyone meeting strangers to buy or sell items, presumably for transactions initiated online. Police said residents can also make custody exchanges there.

The stalls are situated in an open, lighted area and are under 24-hour video surveillance, according to police.

The zone is located adjacent to the police building, 429 N. Wasatch Drive.
